I've got some icons of that lovely episode, "The Beach", as well some nametag icons that serves as my personal response to the batshit insanity that going on in the shipping sectors of this fandom (in multiple shipping communities, mind you). I know that there are awesome people too and these icons were made for you. Also, I've got a few HP icons and a few icons of (mostly the beginning of) the Peter Jackson Fellowship of the Ring movie. I wanted to make more, but my icon muse kind of died on me after finishing those. :( I'll try to make more of the entire series though! :)

#2: So, I always thought that Ty Lee was very similar to Luna Lovegood of HP but when she revealed that she is how she is because she tries to stand out from her sisters, I realized she is much more like Ron. :D

So true, indeed. I smiled very broadly when I saw #31, Avatar set. It's always the nutters in a ship who make themselves the most conspicuous, and the rest of us who have a quiet little eyeroll and a sigh, and go surf dA again in hopes of finding something Zuko/Katara that does not involve the Fire Nation flag tattooed on her pregnant belly.

Special love for #1, #3, #24, and #31/34-37 in the Avatar set (the nametags make me wish I had a paid account with enough icon space to spend on several of them); #8 in the HP set; and #2 in the LotR set because I can always use an icon of Gandalf looking very miffed at a door. <3

Funny thing is that I'm also a multi-shipper. So while all the Maiko fans are bashing Zutara and the Zutara fans are freaking out about Maiko, I'm like "I like both ..."

I actually just read a fantastic Maiko fic. (I'm also, uh, strangely liking Zuko/Aang, as I think their interaction is the most interesting in the whole series.)

The theory of Maiko bothers me a lot less than its execution in the series, honestly. I'd had my own ideas about them for a while, despite primarily shipping Zuko/Katara, and I went into season 3 with as open a mind as I could possibly muster, but every one of their love scenes has hit my sense of quality dialogue and meaningful romance like a lump of lead. I just can't muster up much energy to try to like the "canon" version of the pairing anymore. I want to, but it's just...urgh.

If the fic is good, I'll give it a go. It's got to be better than what I just watched. Oh, Mike and Bryan, why? ;_;

Is there an LJ community for us? Should we make one? How would we enforce the saneness of its members? ^^;

They tend to not be very active, unfortunately.

sane_ichiruki was an experiment like that. It's hard to maintain sanity without stirring up a whole lot of problems.

What bothers me more is Mai constantly brushing him off. Zuko is internalized, but I can count more than a handful of times where he actively sought her as emotional support and she replied by saying she didn't want to hear it, or that he was stupid for even thinking it. He tries constantly to please her while there's no reward for his hard work. She flatly says how she's hungry, he gets her food, and that's it? There's no follow up. Katara strikes me as a lot more understanding and rewarding of actions like that. ;o;

Though I'm in love with the idea of heated battles followed by very meaningful catharsis. I think that's my attraction to Zutara.

I'm a multi-shipper too and am encountering the very same problems from both fronts.

Any chance you could link me to the Maiko fic? :D
