A "Marine Animals are AWESOME" picspam

For the October picspammy challenge:
I think most of my flisters are sort of aware that I have a certain fondness for marine animals because they are undoubtedly cool. I love learning about them and I really enjoy the visuals as well. :D I They can be so diverse in appearance and habits, ranging from bizarre to elegant, from adorable to terrifying, from comedic to graceful. They never fail to amaze me. They can be highly intelligent and specialized organisms and they provide many an insight on our own nature and its origins. They are just plain awesome. I've been collecting many pictures on my hard drive but this picspam finally lets me put them to use. XD

- While this picspam gives you many reasons to appreciate marine animals and other organisms, I highly suggest you check them out in action by watching the BBC/Discovery Planet Earth series for Shallow Seas and Oceans Deep (from which I've capped many of the pictures) because it just takes the beauty of these ecosystems to a whole another level (if you can, watch it in HD!).

so much love! this picspam is wonderful:D i have always loved marine life and i remember when i was 11 the omni-theatre[imax] where i live[singapore] was screening MacGillivray Freeman's Coral Reef Adventure and i ended up watching it thrice i kid you not and its still so amazing.

that octopus is too adorable. and the tiny clownfish(?) with the big adorable eye. i love animals so much <3<3

Boy howdy do I LOOOOVE me some marine wildlife. I am especially glad to see the kelp -- beyond being beautiful and crucial ecosystem components, they are just really, really cool, like aliens are cool. I think they're miraculous, myself. And Planet Earth is one of my favourite DVD sets in quite some time.
