Happy Birthday, Mahatma Gandhi (a tribute)

Today happens to be Gandhi Jayanthi, the day that Mohandas K. Gandhi, known as Mahatma Gandhi, was born. If you're one of those lucky ducks currently reading this from India, enjoy your national holiday off! :) But for the rest of you, the U.N. has proclaimed today to be the International Day of Non-Violence in his memory. And, so, to pay tribute to this inspiring historical figure, I've made Mahatma Gandhi icons, both of the man himself as well as of quotations of his that still can guide people today, as it has for other figures like Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama. I hope you enjoy these and perhaps learn something about his philosophy. I've even provided links to his writings and other media if you even more curious to learn about him! :)

I believe it was something he mentioned in one of his books on non-violence. I'm not sure of the story behind it but I do know that he had a very interesting sense of humor (When once asked what he thought of Western civilization, he answered "I think it would be a good idea."). :D
