This is for the Casting
picspammy challenge but the idea behind it has been in my head for a while.

Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) is sort of a pan-Asian franchise inspired by the manga of the same name (top). As of now, it has been adapted into two Japanese movies and an anime (all not pictured) as well as four live-action dramas in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and China (technically it's an unauthorized version but whatevs). I was reading somewhere that there is a Filipino version currently being produced and that got me thinking that an Indian adaptation of the series would only be the most hilarious thing ever. One of the reasons I got into plotline is because it has so many of the Bollywood tropes that I am shamefully fond of, so I think it would definitely work for an Indian audience. Also, I think any potential Indian fashion showcased in this show could singlehandedly outdazzle the costume choices in all the other live-action versions. JUST IMAGINE. Of course, India doesn't do idols or dramas quite the way Japan and Korea seem to embrace so this is all very hypothetical!
Makino Tsukushi: Genelia D'Souza

I personally think Genelia would be awesome as a spunky Makino. She'd be kick ass, completely endearing and fun to watch overall.
Domyoji Tsukasa: Siddharth Narayan

This was a hard pick but Siddharth is such a natural at being the Rich Arrogant Boy/Dork-At-Heart and he works well with Genelia as an on-screen OTP. I can't think anyone more suited to this role!
Hanazawa Rui: Imran Khan

As you can see, Imran has lazy lounging skills to rival that of Oguri Shun from the jdrama version. Plus he and Genelia could be really cute together or something, IDK.
Nishikado Sojiro: Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir was actually one I considered for casting as Domyoji before I realized that I liked Siddarth better there. I think he'd nail it as a flirty Sojiro as well, though.
Mimasaka Akira: Shahid Kapoor

I am sort of shortchanging Shahid here by giving him the tiniest F4 role but Akira's the one with some degree of emotional maturity and I feel like Shahid's the one who would be able to bring that out the best. Also, that outfit in the third picture was totally stolen from Abe Tsuyoshi's drama wardrobe. :D
Domyoji Kaede: Rekha

Rekha tends to be one of my go-to actresses for antagonist roles so I wanted to originally branch out (I also considered Tabu, who would be so badass!) but I did a bit of googling and found the middle picture and laughed. She would be the best HBIC. :D
Domyoji Tsubaki: Preity Zinta

Oh God, can you imagine how awesome she would be? She'd be the greatest big sister ever and whenever she finds Tsukasa stepping out of line, she would totally whack him with a cricket bat or something, OMG.
Matsuoka Yuki: Tamannaah Bhatia

She's a young face in the industry but she's already shown her versatility in a couple different roles so I think she'd be great for this. :)
Todou Shizuka: Sonam Kapoor

I think one of the quintessential aspects to any Shizuka is that she look put together and totally elegant all the time... and Sonam would be good for that!
The Makino Family: Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Tanay Chheda

The Khers would be the greatest silly, OTT parents ever! :D They;d be so much fun to watch being together. And Tanay Chheda I've only seen in Slumdog Millionaire and Taare Zameen Par but he's all sort of adorable.
Sanjo Sakurako: Kangana Ranaut

I was thinking of her role in Fashion as the rival runway model when I picked her for Sakurako and I think she'd rock it. :)
